Nyepi 2027: the day Bali stops
- Date: Monday 8 March 2027 (Saka New Year 1949), fixed by Indonesia’s joint ministerial decree on 2027 holidays, signed 15 September 2026.
- What happens: no flights, no traffic and no lights — everyone stays indoors. In 2026, Bali’s airport stopped regular flights for 24 hours, from 6 am on Nyepi to 6 am the next day.
- Tip: the days around Nyepi 2027 also fall close to Eid al-Fitr and Indonesian holidays, so flights and hotels will be busy. If your trip overlaps, stay in your hotel that day — or pick other dates.
How to choose your month
- Honeymoon and beaches: June to September for the sunniest days.
- Kerala school holidays (April–May): a good fit — early dry season.
