The Andaman Islands have India's clearest water: Radhanagar beach on Havelock, the natural rock bridge on Neil, snorkelling at North Bay and the history of the Cellular Jail in Port Blair. Note the new names: Port Blair is now Sri Vijaya Puram, Havelock is Swaraj Dweep and Neil is Shaheed Dweep.
Best time to visit
- October to May is the season; December to March is the peak.
- From mid-May to September the monsoon brings rough seas and ferry cancellations.
Rules and practical tips
- Indian citizens need only a photo ID — no permit.
- Ferries between the islands run on government (DSS) and private operators; carry ID and report about an hour early. Sailings can be cancelled at short notice in bad weather, so our plans keep a spare day before your flight home.
- Do not scuba dive in the 24 hours before flying.
- On the road through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve, vehicles travel in convoy; stopping, photographing or feeding the tribe is a crime. We never sell "tribe sightings".

There is no nonstop flight from Kerala. Fly from Calicut or Kochi to Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) with one stop, usually via Chennai or Bengaluru.
