Kashmir at a glance
Kashmir is the most requested snow and honeymoon destination for travellers from Kerala. A typical trip combines a houseboat night on Dal Lake in Srinagar with Gulmarg (gondola and snow), Pahalgam (river valleys and meadows) and a day trip to Sonamarg.
Best time to visit Kashmir
- April–May and September–October are the most pleasant months — green valleys, flowers and clear skies.
- December–February is snow season. Skiing in Gulmarg is best from late January to February.
- During the Amarnath Yatra (about 3 July to 28 August in 2026), Pahalgam and Sonamarg are crowded and have road controls.
Rules and practical tips
- Indian citizens need no permit to visit Kashmir.
- Book the Gulmarg Gondola only on the official Jammu & Kashmir Cable Car Corporation portal — fake booking websites exist. We book it for you.
- In Pahalgam, Aru, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari are visited by the local union taxi, not your tour vehicle.
- Some tourist sites closed after April 2025 have reopened and some have not. We confirm which sites are open before you travel.
- Prepaid SIM cards bought outside Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh do not work there; postpaid connections do.
Getting there from Kozhikode
- Fly from Calicut or Kochi to Delhi (nonstop), then Delhi to Srinagar — there are many flights a day.
- By train: to Jammu Tawi or Katra, then the Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat (about 5 hours).
- Heavy snow can close the Jammu–Srinagar highway and delay flights, so winter trips include a buffer day.
