Before you fly and on arrival

  • Switzerland uses the Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES), introduced from 12 October 2025. Your face image and fingerprints are recorded at the border instead of a passport stamp.6
  • You may not stay more than 90 days in any 180-day period in the Schengen area.4

Applying from Kerala

  • Kerala residents can submit at the VFS Global Switzerland Visa Application Centre in Cochin (Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00). Bengaluru and Chennai centres also exist.17
  • Every application from India is sent to and decided by the Embassy of Switzerland in New Delhi.1
  • For visa procedure questions, the Embassy's email is newdelhi.visa@eda.admin.ch; for application status, contact VFS.1

Extending your stay

  • The 90-days-in-180 limit applies across the whole Schengen area. EES records entry and exit dates and calculates the stay automatically.46
